Israel in 2007
I really don’t understand why a lot of people are scared to goto Israel when in fact it is safer to go there than hang in the hood in American. In 2007 around 450,000 immigrants made citizenship in Israel boosting it’s population and workforce.
This is in a country that is still relatively cheap in labour costs and the cost of living is better value than most of the first world. Companies like, Dell, IBM and Microsoft have invested in Israel obviously for this reason. But slowly the costly of living will increase, rates will go up, demands for wages increase will happen.
Last year across the whole education system there were strikes by teachers for months because they wanted a pay increase. This pattern hasn’t gone away, this could also happen to other sectors like public transport, prison system, policing. There is still along way to go for Israel to be happy.
But one thing is sure, due to the influx of people, this will only boost Israel as an economic power and enable it to become even stronger than it currently is. So Israel is not going away and at the rate of development and growth they will out grow the rest of the middle east.
Issues with the Palestinians may change, but sadly Palestine no longer exists so it’s probably best if they all become Israeli. Now that’s a way forward that most people don’t want to hear.
While I was in Israel I saw a hefty change on the environment. The winter was the coldest on record. Green was growing everywhere in the north and I am sure a lot of people don’t realise how green Israel can be. Even the kibbutz I was on was sub-tropical. I don’t know how much this effects the green house effect. But it’s the opposite of places like Bangladesh and Thailand where they have cut down a lot of trees. Because over the last 50 years Israel must of planted over a million trees. Or maybe I should times that by 5. In fact there may even be the same amount of trees in Israel as population!
So 2007 was not a bad year for Israel as a whole. Things can change, but from what I have seen I can only think that events for Israel can only get better. Sadly its not always good news. But it is not a war zone like some media outlets make you believe. There is a lot of history to see there I for one hope people will visit to help it’s tourist industry.
May peace be with you all.
